He told Kyosuke about the night before.
The student left about 9:00 in the morning.
He and Kyosuke had been in his room hearing the student and Okiyo’s talking before leaving. It seemed the student had rivaled another student. Just after the student’s leaving, the maid started singing and working.
He had been reading a novel in a magazine lying in the bedding until past 3:00 a.m.
