He opened the window and watched countless lights in the rain, also the blue and red ones of the streetcar stop.
After he lay down, he called a maid to open the sliding wooden doors outside the window. He listened to the sound of the rain and slept.

It’s cleared up. The warmest day since the beginning of the year.
At 9:00, he visited his boss with a package of cakes. He heard songs of a nightingale there.
Through the windows of the streetcar, he watched plum blossoms in gardens here and there.
The taste of summer oranges had been still sour.

It’s the deadline he had to pay the rent.
Unwillingly he asked his boss to pay his salary in advance. His boss said it’s troublesome and lent him 25 yen.
He came back and paid 20 yen to the geshukuya.
A telephone call from a friend.
He went out to Asakusa. Feeling tired and hungry, he had dinner in a restaurant of horseflesh. He came back by a vehicle drawn by a man at 12:30.

In the afternoon, he went to the newspaper company and met the person who gave him the letter. They decided he would start working on March 1.
The working hours were about from 1:00 to 6:00.

He got a letter from a person working for a newspaper company with asking how about working as a proofreader.

At that time, a maid came to ask him to pay the rent. He paid only 5 yen and asked her to wait for the remainder until February 13.

They went to a restaurant, ate Japanese fries, drank beer, laughing a lot, came back and slept.

While the red sun was sinking behind the mountains in the west, a kite with a picture of an eagle was floating in the clear sky.
In the evening, Kyosuke held a Japanese New Year’s card gathering with their 4 friends, a relative of the landlady and a few more until about 12:00.

About 6:30, a maid came and said a messenger came and was waiting for him.
He went to see. A drawer of the vehicle was standing beside the gate. He asked who’s message. The drawer told him to come to see for a while. He heard a woman’s voice asking the drawer to tell him where she came from.He went out with her, walking around, getting on and off the streetcar, eating Japanese noodle and he had been drunken.He came back, went to Kyosuke’s room and talked about everything in his mind.
